Meta's Ad Window Closes; Abrams Campaign Never Allowed to Run a Single Ad

· For immediate release

SARASOTA, Fla. (October 27, 2026). As of 12:01 a.m. Pacific time today, Meta stopped accepting new political ads in the United States through Election Day. Only ads that had already delivered an impression may keep running. For the campaign of independent gubernatorial candidate Dean Abrams, there are none. Across the entire campaign, Meta never allowed it to run one ad.

The record:

  • May 25: Facebook and Instagram taken down after Abrams submits ID and biometrics at Meta's request.
  • June 2: Facebook account deleted after further face scans.
  • June and July: A new Facebook account repeatedly fails Meta's identity verification.
  • September 15: Meta rejects the campaign's ad authorization, stating that Abrams's driver's license was expired. It was not. The appeal sat for weeks with no response.
  • October 13: Meta's deadline to complete political ad authorization passes.
  • October 27: Meta's restriction period begins. The window is closed.

"Five months. Every document they asked for, my face scanned again and again, and not one ad," said Abrams. "Other campaigns had months to reach voters on the platforms where Floridians spend their time. Meta decided this campaign would get none."

TikTok bans political ads outright and labeled the campaign's account "not recommended" in September. The campaign will spend its final week on direct outreach, earned media, and the platforms still open to it, and intends to pursue the Meta matter after the election.

The general election is Tuesday, November 3.
