TikTok Flags Candidate's Account as "Not Recommended"

· For immediate release

SARASOTA, Fla. (September 12, 2026). TikTok has labeled the campaign account of gubernatorial candidate Dean Abrams "Account not recommended," a status that keeps an account's videos out of the For You feed where most TikTok viewers find content.

The label confirms what the campaign has seen since its first posts: reach on TikTok has looked restricted from the beginning, as if the account had been quietly limited at creation. Unlike Meta, TikTok never asked Abrams for biometrics, and the campaign has not been told of any violation.

TikTok bans paid political advertising, so organic reach is the only way any candidate can be seen there. With Facebook and Instagram ads already blocked by Meta's failure to verify Abrams's identity, three of the largest platforms Florida voters use are now restricted for his campaign.

"I am a qualified candidate for governor with a running mate and a ballot line," said Abrams. "Two of the biggest platforms in the country have decided, without explanation, that voters should see less of me. Voters can decide that for themselves."

The campaign has captured screenshots of the status and of reach patterns across platforms.
