HAINES CITY, Fla. (August 7, 2026). Dean Abrams, independent candidate for Governor, is attending the Northeast Polk Chamber of Commerce's 44th Annual Pig Roast & Political Mingle tonight at the Lake Eva Event Center to meet with business owners and residents from one of the fastest-changing parts of the I-4 corridor.
Northeast Polk has absorbed rapid residential growth between Orlando and Tampa. Abrams will be talking with residents about the issues that growth brings: housing costs, traffic and tolls, school capacity, water supply, and the pressure on agricultural land.
"Polk County used to be groves and ranches. Now it is rooftops," said Abrams. "The families moving here deserve roads, schools, and water that keep up, and the farmers who were here first deserve a say in what happens to their land."
Abrams's platform calls for community approval of large developments and statewide public notice for projects above a set size.
