Dean Abrams Announces Independent Run for Governor of Florida

· For immediate release

SARASOTA, Fla. (May 24, 2026). Dean Abrams today announced his candidacy for Governor of Florida as a No Party Affiliation candidate, giving voters a choice in November that answers to the people.

Abrams is self-funding his campaign. He will take no PAC money, no party money, and no corporate donations.

His campaign will focus on four areas:

  • Affordability: property insurance, housing costs, and property taxes on homesteaded homes
  • Surveillance and privacy: license plate reader networks and enforcement of Florida's constitutional right to privacy, Article I, Section 23
  • Data centers and water: the land, power, and water that large AI data centers draw from Florida communities
  • Good government: lobbying, foreign influence, and transparency in how bills are written

"Florida families are paying more for insurance, more for housing, and more for everything else, and the two parties have had decades to fix it," said Abrams. "I am running so that voters have a candidate who will put them first, not party loyalties."

Abrams spent 30 years in enterprise technology and consulting, including roles at Microsoft, HP, KPMG, and Avanade, and has worked on public-sector systems in New York City and for the State of Florida.

The statewide qualifying period for Governor runs June 8 to 12. The general election is November 3, 2026.
